Handing over of Small Hive Beetle Traps
Small hive beetle traps were handed over to the Orange Walk Agriculture Department by OIRSA Country Representative Mr. Fermin Blanco.
The traps are to be use in beekeeping against the small hive beetle, which can infest hives, affecting honey productivity. The handing over involved a discussion with beekeepers on how to apply the traps and issues that could affect the bee population.
Beekeepers from Orange Walk were on hand to receive their traps from District Agriculture Coordinated (DAC) Sergio Hernandez, while a representative from Corozal’s Agric Office received the traps to be issued in that district.
